If you’ve come to this post searching for some tips on how to lose weight fast or get skinny quickly, then I’m going to burst your bubble. This ain’t it. I could care less about the number on the scale. Truly. I always try to focus on my whole health journey, meaning how I feel, where’s my energy level at, is my stomach aching, etc. Health is SO much more than a number! Being on the road constantly and also having a job that requires a lot of energy, my health is extremely important to me. It’s easy to get off track when we travel so much, but it’s something I’m really working on staying disciplined in because I know the rewards are great when I stay on track!!

Like everyone, I am a work in progress, but here are four ways I’ve improved my relationship with body image and health (I think the two go hand-in-hand!):

1. Found a workout that I truly enjoy

I am not the kind of person that will stick with a workout that I hate just because it burns a lot of calories. I don’t think that’s worth it! For me, working out is a form of rest and it’s my alone time. I want to do something I’m going to enjoy. I love Sarah’s Burn Fat and Feast program!

2. Filtered my feed

You may be wondering what this means...but have you ever thought about who your Instagram feed is filled with? If your Instagram is filled with all women who look one certain way, you may be inadvertently sending messages to yourself that you need to look that way, too. I have made sure to follow women of all shapes and sizes so that I’m never just seeing one type of body when I scroll through. It makes more of a difference than you’d think!

3. Releasing expectation

I mentioned above that I could care less about the number and I mean that. But even though I’ve been that way for awhile, I noticed I used to give myself these goals and timelines that weren’t doing me any good. I’ve released these expectations I had on myself to fit back into a certain pair of jeans by a specific date because you know what? It’s ok if I haven’t accomplished that as long as I’m trying!! Of course I want to look and feel my best, but if I need to go get a new pair of jeans, that isn’t the worst thing in the world. Release expectations and make your goal to improve your relationship with your body so that you love yourself again, not so that you look a certain way. That’s just an added bonus if you ask me!!

4. Improved my nutrition

Repeat it with me: progress not perfection!! Every little change counts. If you feel like making healthy food decisions is a big struggle for you, you are not alone!! What I tell myself is that every small change adds up. Whenever I can make a “better for you” choice, I do and I will! I find myself having more energy because of what I’m eating and it’s encouraging to see how the food I eat really fuels me.
